Memorial Orb
Finally our first project in ceramics class! Lucky for me I worked with clay in art three so I have down the basics, so it wasn't to hard. I chose to bring vintage Chanel pieces to the light because modern styles are pretty much taking over the fashion world right now. I started by making my pinch pot. My first go around was pretty terrible so I tried again and was able to use that one for my final design. I made a table for my orb to make it look more elegant and vintage! I made the round "cross my heart and hope to die" Chanel sunnies to go on top of my orb, along with drop earrings, and the chained, quilted purse to illustrate the staple pieces of the 1960's. My piece was ready to be fired and glazed and then the worst thing possible happened: IT BLEW UP! ): Even though it got destroyed in the kiln, I think it would have been a pretty awesome piece! I would have chose dark colors and gold for the glazing process. I think next time I will pole extra holes in my pieces so I won't have the blow up issue again.
